The Football Analytics Blitz is open to undergraduate college students only. We accept students from any university in the United States.

How many students does a team consist of?
A team can be made of either four or five students. Teams with less than four or more than five students will not be accepted. Students may not seek help from anyone outside of their team during the competition. Changes to a team may be made until the prompt is sent out.

Yes, all students on a team must come from the same university.
How much does it cost to participate in the Football Analytics Blitz?
The registration fee for the 2023 Football Analytics Blitz is $50 per team ($10 per person for a team of 5). This price is the same regardless of the number of members on the team.
How long are teams given to work on the prompt?
Teams are given approximately one week to solve the prompt and create a PowerPoint presentation with their findings. The prompt is typically sent out about a week and a half before the competition and due the Wednesday before the competition (which is on a Friday). The PowerPoint and any outside applications used in the presentation (such as an R Shiny app) must be submitted before the due date and can not be edited/updated after that time.
What happens on competition day?
On competition day, teams present a PowerPoint presentation of their findings to a judge panel of football analytics professionals. Each team is given 30 minutes for their presentation and judge Q&A.
Is coding experience/knowledge required to participate in this competition?
Coding experience or knowledge is definitely not required to participate in the Football Analytics Blitz, but it may be beneficial for teams to have some coding knowledge to do more in-depth analysis. Teams should at minimum have advanced Excel experience.
Is there a prize for winning the Football Analytics Blitz?
While the biggest benefit of competing in the Football Analytics Blitz is being able to present to industry professionals, we have given away a prize to the overall winning team in the past and anticipate doing so again in 2024.
